The Black Blog

Black Wedding

There's a first time for everything. So it was that over a week ago Black witnessed its very first wedding; not bad going for just under four years of trading. Worth underlining here that we accept that Black is an inanimate object and that what we mean is that other members of the Black team witnessed another member get married.

Here is a gratuitous snap:

The Black Wedding, as well as being a lovely affair, also marks the beginning of wedding season; a time of year where we pick up a number of calls from brides looking for the perfect ivory shrug, or lace gloves, or hair accessories for bridesmaids, or luxury shawls for wedding guests. With this in mind, we've decided to launch the Wedding Edit, where the wedding party can find all the accessories they need under one 'roof'.

The Wedding Edit launches May 20 2010.

Bow By Bow Account

I plan to stop the nauseating puns, headlines and crossheads. I might stop after this entry. I might carry on. I might be the only reader. (Might?)  If you have got this far, I will give you a jewellery box. I will. Email me. Go on.

Plenty of people write brilliant blogs without hoiking hackneyed wordage on them. But then theirs are brilliant. (Suggested brilliant blogs welcomed in Comments please – like good jokes I can recall none).

I may take a leaf out of the book of Gaby Soutar, The Scotman’s fashion editor. She recently featured our Bronze Silk Charmeuse Bow Hairband (we have sold out of this colour but do have new stock of black and white – see below). The article ran with heading:

“Band on the run”.

Genius. She writes:

“If you’ve got more miles on the clock, you might prefer this subtle satin version from Black (perfect for short hairstyles).”

“More miles on the clock”:  I love someone who runs with a metaphor.

Dear Reader (sing.), have you a nauseating pun or headline? I shall wait here with bated breath and watch the Comments below fill to the brim

Bow Bride

A certain member of the Black Board is getting married. Inevitably, conversations flourish about bridal wear. But being of an unconventional mind, this particular member is not too keen on the traditional flouncy set-up and has her focus pitched on something quite different.

So it was that a flick through this month’s Vogue Catwalk Report was the order of the day. Her eyes were stuck on a Balmain number, particularly these side-bow shoes. Stranger things have happened than basing a whole event around a pair of shoes. Surely.

But while details are being cogitated, I’d like to extend the bow theme to these: Silk Charmeuse Side-Bow Hairbands. Ideal for wedding guests who want to hang up their fascinators and de-flounce.
