Royal Wedding Special - The Silent Auction for a Luxury Wedding Ring Shawl

Did someone say 'bandwagon'? Too right! I don't think I've ever been this excited. I don't think I was this excited this time last year when it was my wedding ...

Feels only right to do our bit for posterity and mark the event somehow, in fact, the only way we know how. WITH CASHMERE.

Thus our silent auction for our luxury hand-spun, hand-woven, hand-embroidered pure cashmere wedding ring shawl, so called because the cashmere from which it is made is so fine that it can be threaded through a woman's wedding ring. Fine indeed.

(Off now to string out the bunting and roll out the barrel).

We sold this yesterday at a private sale.  I suppose the fascinating thing about this shawl is the fact that it has a universal appeal. From the women who live by the breathtaking Dal Lake in Kashmir to the Vogue-thumbing women of Chelsea the shawl seems to epitomise female desire (at least sartorially). I think it comes down to the sensory marriage of touch and sight. In terms of touch, many people have never felt cashmere so ethereally soft. The reason for this is that the hairs that are combed from the Himalayan mountain goat come from under the chinny chin chin – one of the few parts of the animal that are shielded from the austere climate.

In terms of sight, there is the simplicity of the colour palette: delicate almond with ivory embroidery. But the most extraordinary feature is the embroidery, which must be seen in person to take in its sheer intricacy, detail and perfection.

We are now opening a waiting list for this shawl as a result of demand. Each shawl is unique and because it is not mass-produced we anticipate a waiting time of 6-8 weeks. As a client suggested, this should give her time to amortize the cost…Click me to add your name.
