Black Wedding

There's a first time for everything. So it was that over a week ago Black witnessed its very first wedding; not bad going for just under four years of trading. Worth underlining here that we accept that Black is an inanimate object and that what we mean is that other members of the Black team witnessed another member get married.

Here is a gratuitous snap:

The Black Wedding, as well as being a lovely affair, also marks the beginning of wedding season; a time of year where we pick up a number of calls from brides looking for the perfect ivory shrug, or lace gloves, or hair accessories for bridesmaids, or luxury shawls for wedding guests. With this in mind, we've decided to launch the Wedding Edit, where the wedding party can find all the accessories they need under one 'roof'.

The Wedding Edit launches May 20 2010.

Justify My Glove

Sometimes I am dazzled by the mediocrity of my own mind. Why, I was dazzled only yesterday in trying to find ways to describe our new lace gloves.  One pair of these was featured in the Sunday Times Style magazine a few weeks ago worn by Madonna.

What happens is, after many years of reading fashion magazines, one’s head becomes filled with clichés that over time morph into hard-wired reflexes. One of the most obvious is when it comes to thinking of ‘black’. Ah! All together now – THE NEW BLACK. So black is the new black. Or new is the new black. Etc.

Rich pickings have been had over Madonna over the decades. Mine are:

“Ideal for Weddings – Like a Virgin”. (bit risky. May look like I am making value judgement. May get barred from UK like that US DJ).
Or

“Marriage Material Girl”. Because these gloves are good for bridal ensembles. Dazzler.
