One of a Kind - The Pashmina Ring Shawl

Here at Black, we specialise in adding little bits of luxury to your outfits. Silk and cashmere embody quality and elegance. But the exquisite finesse of pashmina exceeds even these lux materials. Our Pashmina Ring Shawls are, simply put, remarkable.

What is a Pashmina Ring Shawl

The Pashmina Ring Shawl, also known as a Ring Pashmina, is a wrap known worldwide for its luxurious feel. These shawls always originate in Kashmir, India. Artisans source the finest cashmere from the region know as pashmina wool and skilfully wash, sift, spin, and weave the pashmina into a shawl that exemplifies softness. The fibres are so fine that the resulting scarf or shawl can pass through a wedding ring, hence the name Ring Shawl. The finished product is a shawl that is barely there-light but comfortingly warm.

How Is a Pashmina Ring Shawl Made?

Pashmina cashmere yarn is so delicate that the machinery often used in fabric weaving is not an option. All our Pashmina Ring Shawls are hand spun. But before the spinning process can start, the fibres are hand sifted to select the ultrasoft fine strands. These threads are hand-turned on a traditional spinning wheel, a Charka.

Once the Pashmina yarn is ready, it goes to the next artisan for weaving. Weavers use traditional wooden looms and painstakingly weave the threads into shawls. Patterned shawls take extra skill and precision to complete. Craft workers can spend many hundreds of hours on a single shawl.

One-of-A-Kind Designs

Authentic hand-spun shawls are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Machine-spun cashmere is cheaper to produce and, therefore, more common. All our Pashmina Ring Shawls are hand spun and woven using techniques handed down through the generations. Designs like stripes and checks in a Pashmina Ring Shawl require considerable time and skill from our craft workers in Kashmir.

We only have one available in each style we offer, ensuring that each customer receives something unique. These pieces are more than an accessory. They are a work of art. Like a master painting, each artisan has embroidered a signature in the corner of each shawl. We hope that these works of wonder become heirloom-worthy pieces in your wardrobe.
