Last year it was widely acknowledged that the cravat had made a comeback (as discussed here). The primary reason for the cravataissance, as we termed it at the time, can be explained by the general trend in menswear which has become more expressive and experimental over the last few years.

The cravat fits this trend perfectly as it is a great way for men to experiment with colour and prints as only a small section of the fabric is shown.
