Knitted ties are not only visually beautiful, adding a certain stylistic flair to your usual suit, but they are also incredibly versatile. They can be worn all year round, so don't see your knitted tie purchase as a summer fling - it will see you into the winter months too.

 The Knot

As knitted silk tends to be thicker than woven silk, a regular knot can look too substantial. You are better off with a smaller knot and the 4-in-hand is recommended. If you are not too hot on tie knots, then don't panic. The 4-in-hand is likely to be the knot that you tied during your school days, wrapping the front of the tie across the tail just once before bringing it through the knot opening. It's one of the most common knots used for ties and is especially useful for thicker fabrics. So save your Windsor and Balthus knots for your silk ties and keep things simple and compact.

The Suit

The knitted style means that these ties give a patterned effect, even when just one colour is used. For this reason, it is much better to avoid a suit that is pin-striped or patterned in any way. Keep your suit plain and exquisitely fitted. Italian knitted silk ties work beautifully with a blue work suit, navy blue blazers or a linen suit.

Accessorise With

Linen pocket squares are the ideal way to add a touch of finesse to any outfit during the summer months. Wear your knitted silk tie with a linen pocket square for the perfect finish to your outfit. These small but well-considered details will really complete your look and give you a stylistic edge, as well as adding personality and charm. If you are looking for something a little more luxurious then dressing your suit up with a printed silk pocket square will offer the perfect texture contrast.

We currently have three Italian knitted silk ties in our collection, the muted cream and brown tones of Cecita, the classic navy blue Bolsena and the navy and mid blue Pilato. Each of these meticulously handmade and hand-finished accessories is tubular, meaning that it will hold its shape. To ensure a smooth fit around the collar, the unique knitted fabric is backed onto silk satin. The Pilato and Cecita designs both have a subtle polka dot pattern woven into the knit, adding to the originality and desirability of these neck-ties.
