“You never know what’s round the corner”. That well worn axiom is one that has often sustained me through difficult times throughout my life; times of sadness; times of worry; and times of stress. I have always believed that good and unexpected changes will come in their own good time.
If I ever needed proof of that, it came on July 31st this year when I remarried at the age of 73 having been divorced for some 30 years. It was a small but thoroughly joyous family occasion made sweeter by the pleasure of celebrating ‘en famille’ after eighteen months of pandemic disquiet.

Black, which I founded 17 years ago with my daughter Abi, is a close family business. I have the good fortune also to work closely with my son Toby who gallantly gave me away on the day, and my new husband Charlie, an architect who kindly does all the photography for our website. My twin daughters Abi and Livvy both contribute to the business.

Our wedding ceremony was made all the more special by having our grandchildren as flower girl and page boys. I am truly blessed with such a wonderful loving family and although Charlie and I have been together for many years, getting married has felt like a bright new beginning for both of us.

Whatever the future may hold for us, it will be a future shared, whatever is round the corner!
