One question we are often asked by our customers is, ‘Which of your cashmere accessories are made in Scotland?’ This question implies that people are already aware of the high quality associated with Scottish cashmere.
However, for those who aren’t aware, they find it strange that such a small country can garner such a big reputation for cashmere production, making it sought after by cashmere connoisseurs from all over the world.
The reason why Scottish cashmere has such a large cachet attached to it is twofold; the first is as result of centuries of experience in textile manufacturing creating generations of skilled craftsmen and women handing down their cashmere producing skills for over 300 hundred years.
The second reason is the softness of the water used to treat the cashmere yarn before the spinning and weaving processes begin. It’s no coincidence that our Scottish cashmere accessories are all made in mills by fresh water sources; the Rivers Esk and Teviot in the Scottish Borders and the River Lossie near The Highlands.
It is from these 3 mills that our collection of Scottish cashmere scarves, beanies, gloves and socks originate. Below we have picked some of our favourite cashmere accessories Made In Scotland.
