Since Black began in 2006 we have been lucky to work with some wonderful people producing our beautiful cashmere shawls and scarves in India; items which we know our customers love and value. We have been privileged in our travels to this beautiful and colourful country and have looked forward to our annual buying trips and to the uplifting and friendly reception we have enjoyed.

To contrast those wonderful experiences with the devastation and tragedy that Covid has wrought in India is heart wrenching. The shortage of oxygen, ventilators and other medical supplies is having a catastrophic effect on lives and livelihoods. The situation is desperate and is destined to remain so for some time.
